Crowe 'Immersed' in England
I am immersed in a sea of Rotarians.
It is really has been a wonderful experience so far. It is kind of neat to see how the focus of Rotary really is international. Eight out of every ten people I have talked to since being here are from some country other than the U.S. During the Opening Ceremonies each country which has a Rotary Club was recognized, and there were over a hundred. Randy, you will be glad to hear that President John Kenny will be putting a lot of emphasis on child mortality this year. It looks like the program on Wednesday will be starting to point us in the right direction.
The only person I have talked to from our area is Beth Stubbs from Maryville. She updated me on Carol LaRue. I sent her a card before I left. I also saw John Germ (Chattanooga Rotary, RI Foundation trustee) but have not talked to him.
Well, I am not much of a writer or blogger, but I wanted to let every one know that things are going well. I will probably have to apply for food stamps when I get home. Things are really expensive here. The ole dollar is doing very well against the pound or the euro.

Jim Michel Proposed for Membership
Fred Barry has proposed Jim Michel for membership inOak Ridge Breakfast Rotary Club.
Jim, a cardiologist, has visited with us over the last several weeks and is about to retire from Parkway Cardiology Associates. He and his family live in Oak Ridge (his youngest child, James, just graduated from Oak Ridge High School, and Jim, his wife Sheila, and their three daughters all volunteered at Graduation Celebration 2009).
Jim would be loaned the classification Health & Medicine/Physician, joining Fred, Gene Caldwell, Tom Clary, and Jean Reat in that category.
