Charles Crowe, Club President, opened the meeting and welcomed members and guests.

Guests and visitors:

Ken Brady mentioned that we had three pages of visitors this morning and encouraged all members to look around them and welcome our guests.

Because of the auction, Charles announced there was no Rooster (to which there was great applause).

Announcements:
Charles Crowe announced there will be a board meeting following the regular club meeting March 17.

Kelly Callison reminded members the annual literacy lunch will be on Thursday, March 18th. Contact Kelly at 298-1268 for information.

The Annual ORBRC Auction

There were many interesting, fun, and exciting items auctioned during the morning. Just a few highlights follow:

Immunity from any rooster fines for one full year. (As Charles Crowe is outgoing president, he was reminded that he would need this. He agreed and bid $70.)
Brenda Thornburg provided lab testing and sampling. The auctioneer reminded the real estate members that this would be a great help to them in selling homes. Louise Mixon paid $250 for the item.
A week at his daughter's condominium in Hawaii was provided by Dub Shults, and Brenda Thornburg "won" it for $1050.
A wine tasting offered by John Iacovino was won by Dan Robbins for $600.
Kathy Budai bid $350 for a beautiful quilt provided by Pat Lakers.
A group of 10 couples were successful in bidding and winning a Dim Sum dinner for 20 people provided by Tom and Pat Lakers for $1050.
Cathy Toth's son offered two hours of piano music for a gathering of the winner's choice; Pat Postma won this for $175.
Pat Postma provided a week's stay in her condo in Santa Fe, NM. (She also agreed to add a second condo for the same price if she can arrange it.) Roger Olsen won this for $1,250; Martha Hobson agreed to pay the same amount for the second week if it can be arranged.
Linda Brown was able to win the Robert Tino signed print for $250.
Club members had ample opportunity to explore and bid on items in the silent auction which included wine, pottery, hand carved boards, framed prints; and many other interesting, exotic , and practical items.

Watch/listen for an update on the total funds raised by this event - the money will go to supporting next year's club projects.  AND some pictures of the fun!

Thanks to all who donated and purchased, and to Jerry Holbrook for outstanding services as auctioneer (tough to work this crowd, especially when the crowd is stone cold sober!). Thanks, too, to Mark King who helped Lou Rabinowitz collect the cash, checks, and credit card numbers at the end of the event (we'll be auctioning off the credit card numbers NEXT week).

Special thanks to the committee who solicited, gathered, displayed, and helped hawk the goods sold for great causes: Pat Postma, Emily Jernigan, Mike Morris, Roger Olson, John Wheeler, Judi Gray, Tom Lakers, Dave McCoy, Lou Rabinowitz, and Pat Imperato.
