THERESA'S BLOG

Sept. 4, 2007

Her eyes were so bright with anticipation last week when we met for the first time.  Today when I walked into the gym to find her, she threw up her hand as soon as she saw me and gave me the biggest smile imaginable!!

We read a book she'd checked out of the school library about four wild boars.  She thought the characters were pigs, so we talked about how boars are different from pigs and about other animals that have tusks.  Then we worked on beginning consonant sounds - a worksheet that her teacher had placed in our work folder.  She then read a little book to me that she and the classmates have been reading in class.

She did very well!!  I praised her and told her how I can tell that she really works hard to be a good student.  She showed me her weekly report folder that each child takes home at the end of the week to be signed by parents.  Hers was filled with stickers and happy faces.  She wasn't sure what the stickers said, so I read all of them to her.  Stickers with "Wow," "Way-to-Go," and "Good Job" were sprinkled about her report folder.  She beamed as I read each one out loud.

.

We talked about what we'd done during the Labor Day holiday.  When I told her that last Friday was my birthday and that I'd had a birthday party, that really got her attention.  But she couldn't remember when her birthday is.  So that is her homework assignment - to find out for me by next week when her birthday is.

DECEMBER 10, 2007

Little darling Litzi asked me a few weeks ago, "What day is today?"  When I answered that it was Monday, she then asked, "What day is tomorrow?"  I answered, "Tuesday."  She then asked, "Can't you come back on Tuesday?"

Last week, she was practically in my lap as I read a book about a lion who lived in the jungle who discovered snow in the mountains.  Last week, she also got enough nerve to feel my hair, a desire I have seen in her eyes for several weeks!  She is an absolute delight!
