 COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION

Youth Leadership and Service   - This committee will explore the ways by which the club can formalize its interest in promoting leadership and service for young people in our area, and determine the long-range feasibility of extending such service, first in Oak Ridge, and then throughout Anderson County.

GOAL: By January 2008, sponsor formation of at least one YouthAct youth leadership/service organization for area middle school students ages 11-14, Interact for area high school students ages 14-18 (Anderson County or Clinton High School), or Rotaract (Roane State Community College; 18- to 30-year-olds) and develop a plan for sustained support and interaction. By May 2008, develop a plan for extending the effort throughout the area.

(Long-range plan calls for a re-evaluation of whether this committee should become a larger subcommittee under Service Projects or whether our club bylaws should be amended to make this a standing committee.)
